Our G Media Group brand comes from my nickname. I’m G, both in the boardroom and among friends. Even Eli at the coffee shop - who knows me for my special coffee order, my friendly smile and (I hope) sharp look - calls me G.

My life story in a nutshell? Born in UAE, grew up in California, and pinched an Aussie to be my wife.

I spend my days relationship building and networking. Oh yes, and whipping the team into shape every day.

I’ve been to every continent except Antarctica. And the main thing my travels have taught me is never to pre-judge people, because I might well be wrong. It’s the old book-by-its-cover thing.

I’ve got a number of personal passions, but watches would have to be close to the top. Sometimes I wish I was an octopus, so I could wear eight at a time.

I’ll never forget the birth of my son. It’s the only thing I’ve had nine months to mentally prepare myself for, but my preparations didn’t even come close.

Things that make my heart race? A smile on my soulmate’s face, and a child’s authenticity. Kids tell it how it is. Applying this to G Media Group, means less is more. We always try to get to the essence of what’s needed.

I chose the creative world because I want to use creativity to bring life to people’s stories, and reward their efforts. Plus I love challenges.

I’ve always had a passion for creating and creativity, but my more than 18 years in marketing and advertising hasn’t always been directed at where you’d expect. A lot of it’s been centred in mining and construction, making big machines look sexy! It’s an industry that’s evolved massively. And I’ve relished being part of that story – having the opportunity to challenge and defy traditional thinking.

G Media Group came about through a perfect blend of this passion with a drive for success, plus my partnership with the most remarkable person in my life, G (Gerges), to bring it all to reality. We’re doing what we love while helping our clients - what could be better?

Whether I’m collaborating with clients, our team or both, I spend my working day immersed in ideas, concepts and strategies. And it’s a thrill when connection leads to true light bulb moments.

My other fixations include shoes and bags, travel, food and wine – in that order. My favourite travel destination is Paris – of course! What a magical blend of all my obsessions. I’ve also been captivated by a whole lot of other places around the world, and there are so many more I’m looking forward to exploring. I love the inspiration and mental shakeup that comes from finding true authenticity. When it comes to food and wine, appetizing food, wine in hand and good conversation always creates fun memories.

That never-ending question of work/life balance? My family – G and our beautiful son Moses – keep me sane. I have to wholeheartedly agree with the friend who said that Moses gives the best hugs in the world! As for downtime, I try and spend my weekends relaxing with family and friends, simply hanging out and not thinking (too much!) about work.

To me the greatest challenges of marketing and advertising today are coming up with that perfect creative – one that just clicks. ‘Standard’ is no way good enough! At G Media we prioritise quality, attention to detail, and plain old brilliance. And we make sure we give all our clients, the same high levels of care and attention. We’re proud of being perfectionists – in the very best sense of the word.

You may already be aware of G Media Group’s reputation as an outstanding Sydney design and branding agency. And this is due in no small part to our highly talented Art Director.

JOHN BELLO

My role at G Media Group: Every single day is different – that’s what makes it so exciting. One day you’ll be thinking and planning the best approach and/or solution, the next directing a photoshoot. You learn something new every day. I love working in the G Media team. We all have different strengths, weaknesses and expertise. It’s what produces such great results!

I was born and raised in Colombia. Embracing creativity gave me the tools to overcome a lot of obstacles. You don’t necessarily have to be working as a ‘creative’ to be imaginative and innovative. To me, creativity means making the most of the resources you have available.

During my studies for my degree in advertising, I fell in love with the creative and design side of things - the rest is history! I later opened my own design and advertising studio with a business partner, giving me a wealth of experience.

When the opportunity to come to Australia presented itself, without a lot of English or local knowledge, I jumped at it. After arriving and learning the language, I eventually got the opportunity to work as a designer.

I’ve travelled extensively in Australia and Colombia, but have also visited several other countries. Hopefully, a lot more in the future! I love getting new perspectives on this amazing world we live in.

My main passions include my family, travelling and food! Not to mention creativity and design. I’m always conscious of getting the most out of a situation and enjoying the moment.

My most amazing experience? Becoming a father. Every single day with my son is new and exciting. I’m always surprised by the little things that make life great – the stuff we often take for granted.

As for work/life balance, being outdoors in contact with nature and the elements keeps me sane. As does spending time with the people I love. Overall, I try and work hard to live hard and live hard to work hard.

For me, the most significant challenges in marketing and advertising today involve the growing trend towards personalisation. How to deliver the same message individually tailored for each consumer. Plus, of course, staying abreast of the rapid development of the latest technology. As soon as we get on top of something, a new innovation comes along, and we have to start again!
